Amina Hussein is a 23-year-old journalist and translator. Originally from Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava), she has lived in Barcelona since 2006. Following the refusal of her asylum and stateless-person application, she spent approximately five years with no legal documents.
She studied Journalism at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF, for its acronym in Spanish) and completed a master’s degree in International Relations at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, for its acronym in Spanish). Currently, she works as a freelancer for various Kurdish, Arab and Catalan media. In addition, she devotes her time to an NGO she has recently founded.
