Marie Faye arrived in Spain irregularly more than a decade ago, looking for opportunities for her and her family. Faced with the limitations imposed by the Immigration Act, she had to fight to find a balance between her activity as an unlicensed street vendor and her university studies.
In 2015, she joined social movements to claim basic rights for the collective of unlicensed street vendors and was selected to be part of an advocacy group that developed the Diomcoop cooperative in 2017. This cooperative was created with the aim of establishing a solid structure that would dignify the work of the collective and help them regularise their situation. In 2019, Marie Faye became the second president of the cooperative, while working as a coordinator and head of the administrative area.
