Amin Khan was born in Zormat, Afghanistan, in 1982. He studied in a madrasa and worked as a tailor and as a fabric seller. In 2009 he had to flee his country because his life was threatened by the Taliban. He applied for asylum in Spain, where he was hosted for a year in a CEAR refugee programme. In 2011, once asylum was granted, he started to work at an haute couture atelier. In 2017 he opened his own atelier for wedding and party dresses, KHOG, in Barcelona. In 2021, when the Taliban returned to the Afghan government, he requested the evacuation of his family, which finally took place in August 2023.
